Although the water drawing ceremony is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, it developed into a unique and rich celebration by the time of the Second Temple Period. Allusions to this ceremony can be found in John 7-9 as Yeshua speaks of “rivers of living water” flowing from one’s innermost being, and as the blind man washed his eyes in the Pool of Shiloach.
